there's something that the east coast does to me-
makes me forget who i am.
Oh, what a pitiful sight I am. Apparently sometime Sunday night I scratched the cornea in my left eye. Despite popular belief, this is NOT as much fun as it sounds. You'll just have to take my word on this one hunny. Anyways, my eye is red and watery - that is, when I can keep it open. Ah, but I have learned the blessings of being blind. It's not so bad after all, considering how amazing all of our other senses are. Ferreals, God hooked us up with THE greatest senses.
The ability to hear? And what incredible memories are brought back by hearing the voice of a loved one or a loved band... I can't even explain it. Or take the ability to smell. This poor little sense is usually neglected but boyohboy does it play a key role when you can't see who/what is around. It is so powerful in the way it stimulates images in your brain.
Try it sometime. Forreals, blindfold yourself one day and I can guarantee you that you will appreciate things so much more, and notice more things than you ever would if you were to have sight. I've decided we take so many things for granted because we don't really notice them. Sure, we see them, but we see them everyday... and because of that they aren't special, they aren't special at all. But if you have to discover something, by feeling it and smelling it and hearing it it is so much more precious. I think I may puyll this whole "I scratched my cornea" card every now and then... just to enjoy to simple pleasures of life and what you really see when your eyes are closed.
I love discovering little blessings like this on a daily basis. They make life so much fun, not knowing what's around the corner and what you've been missing out on... Call me crazy but maybe things like a scratched cornea or being blind are gifts, intended to enhance one's life if they are approached the right way. It's too bad that not many people would think of things like this when they temporarily lose their sight. The world would be such a better place.
If you ever need me to punch you in the face so you can enjoy the pleasure of not being able to see, I'm always here for you. <3 Hahahah.
